Dr. Janet Salmons is an independent scholar and methodologist. She edits the Substack newsletter, “When the Field is Online” and has written twelve books about online education and research. Doing Qualitative Research Online (2022) is her most recent book; When the Field is Online: A Guide for Qualitative Researchers in a Connected World is forthcoming. She is a fellow of the Center for Advanced Internet Studies in Bochum, Germany. She served as a professor and dissertation supervisor in an online university from 1999 to 2017, and as Research Community Manager for Sage Methodspace from 2017 to 2024.
